BiographyAnne Dieckmann Harman is a member of the firm and now serves as its managing member.Ms. Harman was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia, and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1981. She attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in Marketing. Ms. Harman then attended The West Virginia University College of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board, and served on the International Law Moot Court Team for competitions. She served as a summer law clerk for the West Virginia State Tax Department, Appeals Division, in Charleston, West Virginia, and then as a summer law clerk with the law firm of Byrum & Bailey in Wheeling, West Virginia. Ms. Harman was admitted to the practice of law in West Virginia in September 1989, having been a part of the first graduating class of the WVU College of Law to take the bar examination pursuant to the newly enacted requirements to practice law in West Virginia. She became an associate with the law firm of Byrum, Bailey & Riley in Wheeling, West Virginia, where she undertook a general practice of law. Ms. Harman is admitted to practice in state and federal courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1990, Ms. Harman became licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in both state and federal district courts there. In 1995, she became licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio. In 1993, the law firms of Bailey & Riley and Riley & Riley merged, becoming Bailey & Riley, L.C. Ms. Harman became a member of the firm in 1996, which then changed its name to Bailey, Riley, Buch & Harman, L.C. Ms. Harman focuses her practice on the representation of businesses and companies, often in the areas of toxic tort civil litigation and regularly involving asbestos and benzene defense work. She represents a range of large and small companies, including those connected to the steel, power and chemical industries in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
